I was originally referred to Phoenix by the Nelson Trust in Swindon having experienced a period of poor mental health due to intensifying personal difficulties. When I first entered Phoenix I instantly knew that I had come to the right place to seek the support I needed. At Phoenix I learnt that having a mental health issue or disability is not a barrier to achieve your goals and having independence. I was inspired by the passion, dedication and resilience of the people here. From then on I was determined that I was not going to let my situation hold me back. Within a few months at Phoenix I was offered several paid jobs. Although I was thrilled, at the same time I was also disappointed that I would have to leave Phoenix. Phoenix had become such an important part of my life. Luckily life had other plans for me – I was offered the Fundraiser role at Phoenix. I was absolutely delighted and seized the opportunity. This means I am always looking for fundraising opportunities both from local businesses and those outside of Swindon.
